Hooked Champ and Lost 'em

While fishing in the depth of the cold waters of Lake Champlain, a fantastic thing occurred. I was down rigging for Lake Trout and hooked a decent fish. I played him magnificently for approximately 7 minutes until he breached the surface. Just then I caught a glimpse of a disturbance in the water. A large dark shape was moving in the direction of the boat. Just as I was preparing to land this gorgeous Laker, the monster known as Champ, reared his ugly head and snatched the fish in his jaws. He peeled off 300 yds of 30lb monofilament until he snapped my rod, destroying my Penn reel.
WHAT DO YOU THINK ATE MIKE'S LAKE TROUT?
